Never forget September 11, 2001
By State Sen. Jeff Raatz (R-Richmond)

Twenty-one years ago today, thousands of American families were forever changed. In the wake of tragedy, we as a nation, came together to show the resiliency of the American spirit.

Amidst devastation and uncertainty, many brave men and women stepped up to help their fellow citizens during and following the attacks on the Twin Towers, Pentagon and aboard United Airlines 93. Our first responders, military members and neighbors worked together in a time of crisis in service of each other and our country.

As we recognize their sacrifice, may we never forget those who lost their lives during the tragic attacks.

My thoughts are with the families of the fallen and those who continue to suffer.

It is important for us to take time to reflect on those we lost and the bravery shown that day. May we never take our liberty for granted.

This weekend, I encourage Hoosiers to pay respect to our fallen at Indiana's 9/11 Memorial located on West Ohio Street in Indianapolis. More information is available on the Indiana War Memorial's website.
