Messmer receives Senate committee assignments

STATEHOUSE (Dec. 8, 2022) — State Sen. Mark Messmer (R-Jasper) has been appointed by Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray (R-Martinsville) to serve on three committees for the 123rd Indiana General Assembly.

Messmer will serve on the following Senate committees:

• Homeland Security and Transportation;

• Public Policy; and

• Veterans Affairs and The Military

"Committee work is an important part of the lawmaking process because it allows lawmakers to research and debate topics before a final vote in the full Senate," Messmer said. " I look forward to meeting with other committee members, and am excited return to the Statehouse to work on legislation in the upcoming session."

Committee hearings can be viewed online by visiting iga.in.gov. Legislative calendars, agendas, vote tallies and proposed legislation can also be found on this site.

The 2023 legislative session ceremonially began with Organization Day on Nov. 22. The Senate is scheduled to reconvene for session Jan. 9.
