Leising chairs final Rural Caucus of the 2022 session

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 24, 2022) – This week, State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg), co-chair of the Rural Caucus, hosted the final Rural Caucus meeting of the 2022 legislative session.

The Rural Caucus honored five of its retiring members, State Sens. Dennis Kruse (R-Auburn) and Phil Boots (R-Crawfordsville), and State Reps. Don Lehe (R-Brookston), Tom Saunders (R-Lewisville) and Doug Gutwein (R-Francesville), for their dedication and public service.

"It is always hard to see colleagues, and friends, leave the legislature," Leising said. "I thank these members for their involvement in Rural Caucus and wish them all the best in their retirement."

The caucus also heard from speakers Adam Alson, a third-generation grain farmer from Rensselaer, and David Gray, an Apprenticeship & Training Representative for the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Apprenticeship since 2012. These speakers shared their experience in regard to improving career opportunities and child care in rural communities.
