Legal Internship with the Senate Republicans

Legal Internship with the Senate Republicans

Monday, September 21, 2026

Applications to intern with the Indiana Senate Republicans are open for the 2027 legislative session.

The legal internship is ideal for those considering a career path in law, government and public policy. Legal interns will assist Senate attorneys and staff in maintaining the legal framework that supports Indiana's legislative process and the day-to-day operations of the Senate.

Legal interns play a role in:

  • Conducting legal and policy research to help senators make informed decisions;
  • Drafting and filing Senate motions and resolutions;
  • Summarizing amendments and conference committee reports to ensure accuracy and transparency; and
  • Helping create the daily legislative schedule, a vital document that helps keep the Senate running.

Benefits

Interns earn a $900 biweekly stipend, are eligible to earn academic credit through their college or university and can apply for academic scholarships through the Verizon Communications and Senator David Ford Scholarship funds.

Eligibility

This internship is open to college sophomores, juniors and seniors, as well as recent college graduates, graduate students or law students. All majors are accepted.

This is a full-time, in-person, spring semester internship at the Statehouse in Indianapolis that typically begins in late December or early January and concludes at the end of the 2027 legislative session, which by law must end on or before April 29.

Application Deadline

The deadline to apply for the internship program is Oct. 31.
