Launch Your Career at the Statehouse: Applications Open for Paid 2027 Indiana Senate Internship

STATEHOUSE (Aug. 17, 2026) — College students, recent graduates, and graduate students looking to gain firsthand professional experience at the heart of state government are invited to apply for the Indiana Senate Republican Caucus Internship Program for the 2027 legislative session, announced State Sen. Chris Garten (R-Charlestown).

The Senate offers full-time, paid spring-semester opportunities across six key professional tracks:

  • Communications & Media Relations
  • Legislative Operations
  • Policy Analysis
  • Legal Counsel
  • Information Technology
  • Senate Page Program

Why Apply?

Interns work directly alongside state senators, senior staff, and policy experts at the Indiana Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis. In addition to gaining direct insight into the legislative process, participants receive:

  • Competitive Pay: A $900 biweekly stipend throughout the session.
  • Academic & Financial Benefits: Eligibility for caucus-awarded scholarships and opportunities to earn academic credit.

Eligibility & Timeline

  • Who Can Apply: Open to all academic majors. Applicants must be at least college sophomores. Recent college graduates, graduate students, and law students are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Schedule: Full-time positions begin with mandatory orientation in late December/early January and conclude at the end of the legislative session (adjourning by April 29, 2027).
