KOCH REVIEWS STATE COURT SYSTEM: State Sen. Eric Koch (R-Bedford) questions witnesses at the Sept. 15 meeting of the Interim Study Committee on Courts and the Judiciary. The committee heard testimony from Associate Supreme Court Justice Christopher Goff and Marshall County Superior Court No. 3 Judge Matthew Sarber regarding Indiana trial court caseload measures that track judicial resource needs. The committee also discussed the effectiveness of those measures and different criteria to evaluate court caseloads. Over one million new cases are filed each year in Indiana, which is served by 485 full-time judicial officers.
