Koch recognizes the Bedford North Lawrence
Lady Stars at the Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (April 3, 2023) — State Sen. Eric Koch (R-Bedford) recognized the Bedford North Lawrence Lady Stars on winning the Indiana High School Athletic Association Class 4A Championship with Senate Concurrent Resolution 37 at the Statehouse Monday, April 3.

In late February, the team won their fifth state title after defeating the Fishers High School Tigers by a score of 46-42. Senior Karsyn Norman received the Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award – Bedford North Lawrence's sixth recipient.

The Bedford North Lawrence High School girls' basketball team also won championship titles in 1983, 1991, 2013 and 2014.

"It is great to see the spirit of Indiana high school athletics reflected in these outstanding young ladies," Koch said. "I was proud to welcome the Bedford North Lawrence Lady Stars to the Statehouse to congratulate them for winning their fifth state title, and I wish them continued success."

The team includes Katie Baumgart, Madisyn Bailey, Trinidy Bailey, Emma Brown, Paige Burton, Haleigh Canada, Emma Crane, Katie Godlevske, Harryson Hayes, Bella Jackson, Makaya Jackson, Tori Nikirk, Karsyn Norman, Mallory Pride, Trinity Schmeichel, Chloe Spreen and Ellie Tillett.

SCR 37 recognizes the team and their coaches, Head Coach Jeff Allen, Assistant Varsity Coach Chase Spreen and Junior Varsity Coach Brett Holtz, on their successful season and championship win.

Koch, chairman of the Senate Committee on Utilities, serves Senate District 44, which includes all of or parts of Bartholomew, Brown, Jackson, Lawrence and Monroe counties.
