Indiana is known as one of the most fiscally responsible states in the nation, but Senate Republicans are always looking for more ways to improve government efficiency and accountability.
This year, Senate Republicans prioritized those efforts through Senate Enrolled Act 5, which will:
Every two years, the Indiana General Assembly is tasked with passing a fiscally responsible and balanced state budget. When crafting the budget, lawmakers must ensure that they prioritize funding for important things like K-12 education and public safety, while also addressing any revenue shortfalls that require funding cuts to other state agencies or programs.
Another important aspect in crafting a biennial budget is ensuring that our state continues to responsibly invest taxpayer dollars. With SEA 5 now signed into law, lawmakers can better track and manage how those taxpayer dollars are spent by the executive branch agencies.
Hoosiers should have confidence in their government's ability to ensure accountability and transparency when investing hard-earned taxpayer dollars, which is why Senate Republicans will continue to look for more ways to improve our fiscal integrity.
