Hoosiers Helping Hoosiers

Hoosiers Helping Hoosiers

Thursday, April 9, 2020

As the novel coronavirus pandemic continues, noble Hoosiers across the state are treating the sick and providing their communities with the goods and services they need. Recently, a collection of encouraging news stories have highlighted the work of ordinary citizens who are providing equipment and support to those Hoosiers on the front lines.

Numerous groups of people have been working to make personal protective equipment for medical professionals and people in their communities. People in Carmel, La Porte and Alexandria have been sewing up to 75 masks a day for both their own communities and those caring for the sick, and a small business in Franklin has been 3D printing over 100 face shields daily for health care workers and first responders.

Hoosiers have also been providing food to first responders at local hospitals who are working long shifts and have no time to step away for a sit down meal, and prayer groups in Bloomington have shown their support and appreciation.

In addition, more than 11,000 Hoosiers are offering to volunteer at hospitals across the state after Gov. Holcomb expanded the pool of eligible hospital workers due to the overwhelming increase in patients.

We all know Hoosiers have big hearts, and that is evident as people all across the state step up and come together for the greater good of the people of Indiana. Please continue to practice social distancing and do what you can to help your friends, family and neighbors.
