Holdman: Communities in Senate District 19 receive more than $5.3 million in road-funding grants

STATEHOUSE (Dec. 6, 2022) — Communities in Senate District 19 will receive more than $5.3 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Travis Holdman (R-Markle).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since its enactment, the program has awarded more than $1.1 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 19, the following communities received grants:

  • Adams County received $999,879.19;
  • Berne received $726,540;
  • Blackford County received $582,000.28;
  • Bluffton received $179,350;
  • Decatur received $937,460.25;
  • Dunkirk received $140,981.25;
  • Geneva received $172,196.25;
  • Monroe received $267,888.75;
  • Portland received $549,558;
  • Redkey received $196,100.25; and
  • Wells County received $549,105.

"Indiana is ranked No.1 in the country for infrastructure, and it's incentives like this that make it possible," Holdman said. "I am happy to see local leaders investing in our roads and bridges and look forward to seeing the positive impact."

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations greater than 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.

The CCMG offers two rounds of applications each year, with the next call for applications occurring in January of 2023.
