STATEHOUSE (Oct. 28, 2026) — Communities in Senate District 19 will receive more than $4.6 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Travis Holdman (R-Markle).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since its enactment, the program has awarded more than $2 billion in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 19, the following communities received grants:

  • Adams County received $552,810.30;
  • Allen County received $213,902.81;
  • Berne received $301,028;
  • Bluffton received $303,304;
  • Decatur received $330,560;
  • Geneva received $160,021.12;
  • Hartford City received $349,840;
  • Jay County received $573,359.05;
  • Montpelier received $329,200;
  • Ossian received $568,104.76;
  • Portland received $479,960;
  • Shamrock Lakes received $39,963.20; and
  • Wells County received $473,142.40.

"Investing in our local infrastructure is an important part of ensuring our small and rural communities continue to thrive," Holdman said. "This funding will help local leaders make necessary improvements to roads and bridges so Hoosiers can travel safely and efficiently."

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 55,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 12,500 receive an 80%/20% match, while counties with populations greater than 55,000 and cities and towns with populations greater than 12,500 receive a 50%/50% match.
