Recently, Gov. Eric Holcomb and the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announced 283 Indiana cities, towns and counties received a combined $100 million in state matching funds for local road projects through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG).

These funds will be used for sidewalk and ramp work, small structure replacement, and bridge and road preservation and road reconstruction projects, among other things.

The CCMG was created in 2016 through legislation passed by the Indiana General Assembly and aims to improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since it began, the program has awarded nearly $400 million in state matching funds for local constructing projects.

Starting in 2019, INDOT will make it easier for local communities to pursue these grants by offering two calls for projects per year, one in January and one in July. Communities will be eligible to apply for up to $1 million once per year during the call of their choice.

Building and maintaining our state’s infrastructure plays an important role in Gov. Holcomb’s Next Level Roads initative. Over the next 20 years, the plan dedicates over $30 billion to improving Indiana’s road projects and elevate Indiana’s economic competitiveness.
