Gov. Braun ceremonially signs Goode's higher education, workforce development bill

STATEHOUSE (July 8, 2025) — A bill authored by State Sen. Greg Goode (R-Terre Haute) to improve Indiana's public university system and better prepare Hoosiers for the future economy was ceremonially signed into law today by Gov. Mike Braun.

Senate Enrolled Act 448 gives the Indiana Commission on Higher Education authority to approve programs at the state's public universities and review existing programs to ensure enrollment growth and connection to workforce demands.

"This legislation will make sure all Hoosiers who attend Indiana's great public universities are prepared for future employment," Goode said. "As our economy evolves into the decades ahead, it is important to review collegiate programs to make sure they meet the needs of employers."

SEA 448 also enables the Indiana Secretary of Education to be more diligent in creating "stackable" credentials, allowing students to earn multiple credentials at once when completing courses with overlapping requirements.

Goode encourages residents of Senate District 38 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Goode can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Goode or by phone at 800-382-9467.
