STATEHOUSE (May 20, 2026) — A bill sponsored by State Sen. Greg Goode (R-Terre Haute) that strengthens Indiana's defense sector was ceremonially signed by the governor on Tuesday, May 19.
House Enrolled Act 1268 improves collaboration between the Indiana Defense Task Force, Indiana Economic Development Corporation's Office of Defense Development, the Indiana National Guard and state lawmakers.
"As co-chair of the General Assembly's defense caucus, I know how important the defense industry is to our state," Goode said. "House Enrolled Act 1268 ensures government agencies and the private sector are working together to attract new jobs and developments to Indiana."
HEA 1268 adds legislative appointees to the Defense Task Force. It also adds the Adjutant General of the Indiana National Guard, or his designee, as a nonvoting member.
"With Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division, the nation's third largest naval base, and headquarters to military units like the 181st Intelligence Wing at Terre Haute Air National Guard Base, the state of Indiana is always ready to help defend our nation," Goode said. "Indiana is also home to an ecosystem of companies heavily engaged in the defense innovation and manufacturing sectors. I believe HEA 1268 will help attract our nation's best and brightest talent to Indiana and help protect our soldiers at war."
