Goode: Early Childhood Education Center renovation gets approval

STATEHOUSE (April 19, 2024) – The State Budget Committee approved nearly $9.8 million to renovate the Chestnut Building on the Indiana State University campus to house the Early Childhood Education Development Center, said State Sen. Greg Goode (R-Terre Haute).

“As a parent, I have seen firsthand the importance of early childhood education," Goode said. "As a citizen of West Central Indiana, I recognize the significance of investing in our young citizens. As a legislator, I am committed to this and other continued efforts to strengthen educational opportunities for early childhood development."

The money will be used to add a new elevator and upgrade heating, ventilation, cooling, electrical and the fire suppression system to meet childcare licensing and accreditation standards.

"I have been part of this project from the beginning when I was chair of the Wabash River Regional Development Authority," Goode said. "I am so grateful for the hard work of those at ISU and the partnership of county, city, and philanthropic leaders to make this project a reality.”
