Freeman: INDOT to close Post Road and London Road bridges over I-74

STATEHOUSE (July 1, 2020) — The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) will soon close two bridges along I-74 on the southeast side of Indianapolis, said State Sen. Aaron Freeman (R-Indianapolis).

Contractors will be constructing a new bridge deck overlay on both Post Road and London Road. They will also be doing additional bridge work on the Post Road bridge.

The closure on Post Road will run from July 6 to Sept. 21, and the London Road closure will run from July 15 to July 21.

"Our roads and bridges require regular maintenance to assure Hoosier motorists can continue to get to their destinations safely," Freeman said. "I understand that this will cause a disruption in our daily commutes, but I have met with INDOT and local businesses to try to minimize those negative effects as much as possible. Please be cautious as you navigate around these closings."

During the bridge deck closures, all ramps to I-74 will be open, but the public will not be able to cross the bridge. Official detour routes can be found here.
