Freeman encourages locals to attend energy affordability listening sessions

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STATEHOUSE (March 31, 2026) —State Sen. Aaron Freeman (R-Indianapolis) encourages residents of Senate District 32 to attend one of 10 state-wide listening sessions hosted by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission to share the impacts of energy prices.

The closest listening session to Senate District 32 will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 20, in Ivy Tech Conference Center's Ballroom 212, 2820 N Meridian St., Indianapolis.

"Hoosiers are understandably unhappy with the rising cost of utilities, and the possible acquisition of AES by a consortium of companies including BlackRock, EQT, CalPERS and the Qatari Investment authority is an insult to injury for Hoosiers served by AES," Freeman said. "I encourage those who can make it to attend this listening session so the IURC can hear your concerns."

During the 2026 legislative session, Freeman supported House Enrolled Act 1002, which overhauls Indiana's ratemaking process for electric utilities to promote affordability, predictable monthly bills and reliable service. The legislation switches Indiana to a performance-based ratemaking model, requiring utility companies to meet certain affordability and reliability goals in order to collect their full return on investment.

Freeman encourages constituents to contact him with any questions or comments they may have.

He can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Freeman or by phone at 800-382-9467.
