Ford receives 2018 Indiana Foster and Adoptive Parents Advocate of the Year Award

STATEHOUSE (Aug. 14, 2018) – State Sen. Jon Ford (R-Terre Haute) recently received the 2018 Indiana Foster and Adoptive Parents Advocate of the Year Award during the annual Indiana Foster and Adoptive Parents Resource and Advocacy Group, Inc. (IFAAP) picnic.

IFAAP is a nonprofit based in Brazil that supports, educates and advocates on behalf of the foster children of Indiana and the families who care for them.

“As someone who was adopted through the foster care system, it has always been my priority help create positive change in the foster and adoption system in our state,” Ford said. “I know firsthand the important role foster parents play in this system, and we need to do all we can to support their efforts.”

Kristi Cundiff, administrator and CEO of IFAAP, originally started IFAAP as a closed Facebook group where foster and adoptive parents in Indiana could network and receive support. The online group has grown to over 7,800 members.

“It was a unanimous decision that Sen. Ford receive our 2018 IFAAP Advocate of the Year Award because of his tireless work on the Foster Parent Bill of Rights,” Cundiff said. “We are extremely grateful for Sen. Ford’s support and dedication to the betterment of children and parents in the foster and adoption system. He has been a tremendous help in getting our voices heard at the Statehouse, and he is always willing to meet with us to go over issues and concerns. He is well-deserving of this award, and we look forward to continuing to work with him.”
