Doriot: Bill to update motor vehicle manufacturing towing requirements ceremonially signed

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STATEHOUSE (May 22, 2026) — A bill authored by State Sen. Blake Doriot (R-Goshen) that updates requirements for the towing of motor vehicles in the manufacturing process was ceremonially signed into law by the governor at the annual RV Power Breakfast in Elkhart on Thursday, May 21.

Senate Enrolled Act 13 adds an exception to certain requirements for a motor vehicle's chassis that are a part of a vehicle manufacturer's work in process and are towed for less than 40 miles.

Doriot was joined at the signing by State Sen. Linda Rogers (R-Granger) and State Rep. Doug Miller (R-Elkhart), who coauthored and sponsored SEA 13.

“Elkhart is known as the RV capital of the world for a reason, and it's important for me as our state senator to ensure that the regulations around RV production are constantly being updated and improved," Doriot said. "I am pleased to see SEA 13 be ceremonially signed by the governor and look forward to seeing how it will directly and positively impact Elkhart County's manufacturing industries."

Doriot encourages residents of Senate District 12 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Doriot can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Doriot or by phone at 800-382-9467.
