DONATO AND INDOT HOST ROAD RENAMING CEREMONY TO HONOR LATE JUDGE: State Sen. Stacey Donato (R-Logansport, right) presents Senate Concurrent Resolution 8, which urged the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) to rename a section of State Road 218 in Cass and Miami counties as "The Honorable Richard A. Maughmer Highway," at a private ceremony Sunday, Aug. 1.
SCR 8 passed the Indiana General Assembly unanimously during the 2021 legislative session. Maughmer tragically passed away in 2019 and was serving as Superior Court 2 Judge in Cass County at the time of his death.
"It was an honor to know Rick and to work alongside him during my time serving at the local level," Donato said. "My hope is that this road renaming will serve as a daily reminder and memorial for a man who gave so much to Cass County."
