STATEHOUSE (Nov. 18, 2025) — State Sen. Dan Dernulc (R-Highland) gathered with fellow legislators today at the Statehouse for Organization Day – the ceremonial start of the Indiana General Assembly.
Organization Day marks the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers. This day also provides members of the Senate and House of Representatives with the opportunity to meet before session officially reconvenes on Jan. 5. By state law, the 2026 session will conclude on or before March 14.
"I am eager to get back to the Statehouse and start our legislative work for the 2026 session," Dernulc said. "I am working on some very important topics including bidding preference for Indiana-based contractors, addressing increases in utility costs from NIPSCO, helping to expand efforts to prevent human trafficking and child grooming, and addressing the Little Calumet River Basin Development Commission."
As the 2026 session gets underway, Dernulc encourages residents of Senate District 1 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Dernulc can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Dernulc or by phone at 800-382-9467.
