Communities in Senate District 45 receive more than $6.5 million in road-funding grants

STATEHOUSE (Dec. 10, 2020) — Communities in Senate District 45 will receive more than $6.5 million to improve roads and bridges through the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG), said State Sen. Chris Garten (R-Charlestown).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges. Since it was put into place, the program has awarded more than $830 million in state matching funds for local construction projects.

In Senate District 45, the following communities received grants:

• Charlestown received $620,925.41;
• Clark County received $582,462.25;
• Hanover received $332,297.93;
• Jefferson County received $1 million;
• Madison received $343,032.46;
• Scott County received $866,372.24;
• Scottsburg received $981,286.80;
• Sellersburg received $942,406.11; and
• Switzerland County received $899,959.50.

“The Community Crossings Matching Grant Program is a great opportunity for Hoosier municipalities and counties to commit to the future of local infrastructure,” Garten said. “I'm happy to see so many communities in Senate District 45 take advantage of this program, and I look forward to the positive impact these projects will have.”

Through the program, the Indiana Department of Transportation matches up to $1 million annually when localities invest in road and bridge repairs. Counties with populations fewer than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations fewer than 10,000 receive a 75%/25% match, while counties with populations of greater than 50,000 and cities and towns with populations of greater than 10,000 receive a 50%/50% match.
