Charbonneau: Valparaiso schools receive Blue Ribbon distinction

STATEHOUSE (Sep. 16, 2022) — The U.S. Department of Education (DOE) recently designated two schools in Valparaiso as 2022 Blue Ribbon Schools, said State Sen. Ed Charbonneau (R-Valparaiso).

In Senate District 5, Central Elementary School and Saint Paul Catholic School were both recipients of the Blue Ribbon Schools distinction in the "Exemplary High Performing Schools" category, which honors schools with the highest graduation rates and highest achieving students in English, language arts and mathematics.

"Out of 297 schools nationwide, Indiana had just 10 schools receive the Blue Ribbon School distinction, with two of those located in Valparaiso," Charbonneau said. "Our local schools are constantly working to help our children gain the most from their education, and it is truly excellent to see their hard work pay off. I am pleased that our local students and educators are receiving recognition for all their efforts."

The Blue Ribbon School designation honors high-achieving schools nationwide for their academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student subgroups. Every year, the DOE seeks out and celebrates great American schools, affirming the hard work the students, educators, families and communities put toward advancing the education of local youth.
