Charbonneau: Local businesses honored with Governor's Half Century Business Award

STATEHOUSE (June 18, 2021) – This week, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation announced Wednesday that over 100 businesses received the Governor's Century and Half Century Business Award, said State Sen. Ed Charbonneau (R-Valparaiso).

These awards honor Hoosier businesses that have remained in operation for a minimum of 100 or 50 consecutive years and have demonstrated a commitment to community service.

In District 5, the following businesses received the Governor's Half Century Business Award:

  • Baptist Children's Home in Porter County, 66 years;
  • Belstra Milling Co. in Jasper County, 67 years;
  • Boy-Conn Printers in Porter County, 58 years;
  • Jasper County Airport Authority, 88 years; and
  • Sanders Indiana Hardware Inc. in Porter County, 70 years.

"I am pleased that to see businesses in District 5 persevering, even through the struggles of the COVID-19 pandemic," Charbonneau said. "Congratulations to all the business owners and employees who have received this award, and thank you for your dedication to our community."

While the Governor's Century and Half Century Business Awards ceremony did not occur this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a certificate will be sent to each business to celebrate their success.
