Carrasco's first bill passes the Senate unanimously

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 6, 2024) — A bill authored by State Sen. Cyndi Carrasco (R-Indianapolis) to make changes to the use of the State Disaster Relief Fund to increase the maximum amount of financial support eligible entities and property owners can receive passed the Senate unanimously today.

“Last summer, Indiana faced tumultuous weather, which left families and businesses in our district in financial strain," Carrasco said. "It is my goal to ensure that Hoosiers have adequate support after natural disasters strike."

Senate Bill 190 would make changes to the calculations used to determine the amount of financial assistance an eligible entity may receive from the Fund. It would also increase the amount of loss that may be compensated for damages to an individual's property from $10,000 to $25,000.

"I am thankful for the support that I have received from my Senate colleagues," Carrasco said. "I look forward to advocating for the passage of this bill in the House of Representatives.”

SB 190 will now move to the Indiana House of Representatives for further consideration.
