Byrne: General Assembly kicks off 2024 session

STATEHOUSE (Nov. 21, 2023) — State Sen. Gary Byrne (R-Byrneville) gathered with fellow legislators today at the Statehouse for Organization Day – the ceremonial start of the Indiana General Assembly.

Organization Day marks the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers. This day also provides members of the Senate and House of Representatives with the opportunity to meet before session officially reconvenes in January. By state law, the 2024 session will conclude on or before March 14.

"Lawmakers worked during the interim to study a number of issues, including child care access," Byrne said. "I look forward to further discussing these concerns with local constituents and working with my colleagues in the General Assembly to ensure we are doing all we can to improve our state and Hoosiers' quality of life."

As the 2024 session gets underway, Byrne encourages residents of Senate District 47 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Byrne can be reached via email at Senator.Byrne@iga.in.gov or by phone at 800-382-9467.
