Buchanan: Governor ceremonially signs IEDC transparency bill

STATEHOUSE (June 5, 2025) — A bill authored by State Sen. Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon) that increases transparency at the Indiana Economic Development Corporation was ceremonially signed into law today by Gov. Mike Braun.

Senate Enrolled Act 516 requires the IEDC to notify local government officials of its intent to purchase land exceeding 100 acres within a community. It also requires notification to be given to the county commissioners, and the mayor of a city if the land is located within a city, within 30 days before the closing date of the purchase of the property. SEA 516 also establishes the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

"I was happy to join my colleagues and the governor as he ceremonially signed this bill into law," Buchanan said. "This legislation will ensure local governments know if the IEDC is eyeing potential developments in their area and brings added accountability to the agency."

Buchanan encourages residents of Senate District 7 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Buchanan can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Buchanan or by phone at 800-382-9467.
