Buchanan: General Assembly kicks off 2024 session

STATEHOUSE (Nov. 21, 2023) — State Sen. Brian Buchanan (R-Lebanon) gathered with fellow legislators today at the Statehouse for Organization Day – the ceremonial start of the Indiana General Assembly.

Organization Day marks the annual first roll call of all state lawmakers. This day also provides members of the Senate and House of Representatives with the opportunity to meet before session officially reconvenes in January. By state law, the 2024 session will conclude on or before March 14.

"This year, I was fortunate to serve as the chairman of the Interim Study Committee on Pension Management Oversight," Buchanan said. "I look forward to taking the information gained from this committee to make sure the General Assembly continues Indiana's strong fiscal outlook it has maintained for nearly 20 years."

As the 2024 session gets underway, Buchanan encourages residents of Senate District 7 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Buchanan can be reached via email at Senator.Buchanan@iga.in.gov or by phone at 800-382-9467.
