Indiana was ranked best in the Midwest and fifth in the nation for doing business, advancing from No. 6 overall last year, according to Chief Executive magazine.

The magazine surveyed more than 500 CEOs for the “Best & Worst States For Business” ranking. The ranking showed that CEOs favor states with friendly tax and regulatory climates, quality workforces and strong living environments, which includes cost of living, education and state and local attitudes toward business.

According to Chief Executive, Indiana ranks fourth in workforce quality, tenth in tax and regulatory policy and seventeenth in living environment. A key advantage is Indiana’s corporate tax rate, which fell by a half percentage point for the fourth straight year, from seven percent to 6.5 percent.

This ranking is further confirmation that Indiana is a State that Works.
