FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STATEHOUSE (Oct. 1, 2026) — Hoosier farmers will see some relief this harvest season after Gov. Mike Braun announced the state would temporarily suspend restrictions on dyed off-road diesel for agricultural-related uses, said State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette).
"The farmers in Carroll and Tippecanoe counties have been hit hard in recent years through drought, inflation and now record-high diesel prices," Alting said. "Farming families supply vital resources and food for all Hoosiers, and giving them this relief can help ensure they remain in operation for years to come."
In April, after Alting's urging, the governor announced he would suspend the state's tax on gas to help reduce the price for Hoosiers. As of Oct. 1, the average price for a gallon of regular gas in Indiana was $3.81 — the lowest in the nation at the time.
"Our state is able to provide this relief to Hoosiers after years of conservative fiscal discipline that I have continuously supported throughout my years in the state Senate," Alting said. "Despite these tax suspensions, our local communities will continue to be made whole by the state so they can still make important improvements to our roads and bridges."
Alting encourages residents of Senate District 22 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Alting can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Alting or by phone at 800-382-9467.
