FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
STATEHOUSE (June 5, 2026) — State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) recently recognized retired Meadowlawn Elementary School special education teacher Susan Williams for her 46 years of service to local students.
"As a longtime supporter of our teachers, it was a special honor to present this certificate to Susan for her 46 years of making a positive difference in the lives of countless children," Alting said. "As a strong supporter of Best Buddies, a mentoring program for children with intellectual disabilities, I know the challenges these kids have and the dedication it takes for a long career like hers."
Alting has recently been recognized for his support of public schools, including being named an inaugural recipient of the Champions for K-12 Education Award by the Indiana School Boards Association.
"The students in the classroom today are our state's next generation of leaders," Alting said. "That's why I work hard to support teachers like Susan who go to work every day to prepare Hoosier students for their futures. I want to congratulate Susan on her retirement and thank her for her many years of dedicated service to our community."
Alting encourages residents of Senate District 22 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Alting can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Alting or by phone at 800-382-9467.
