Alting brings a resolution honoring Abby Williams and Libby German

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 19, 2026) — A resolution authored by State Sen. Ron Alting (R-Lafayette) honoring the lives and legacies of Abigail "Abby" Williams and Liberty "Libby" German passed the Senate today.

Abby and Libby were eighth graders at Delphi Community Middle School and were tragically murdered in Delphi on Feb. 13, 2017. They both were greatly involved in their communities and loved staying active in a variety of extra curriculars and were regarded as good-hearted girls.

Alting said the idea to honor Abby and Libby came from Delphi Resident Isabel Dozier who wanted to honor the girls and keep their memories alive.

Libby enjoyed staying active and was a well-rounded young lady. She played volleyball, softball, soccer and competed in swimming, and was also a band member. She enjoyed painting, doing crafts and going on vacations. Her curiosity and involvement in so much made her a strong member of the Delphi community.

Abby played the saxophone in the school band and was on the volleyball team. She was known as a big reader and loved to camp, swim and be outdoors. She was highly engaged in a variety of activities and interests. She enjoyed photography, art and drawing. Her creativity and curiosity made her stand out.

"Abby and Libby will always be remembered in the Delphi community, and I brought this resolution to honor them and their families," said Alting. "It is a tragedy to have lost these young girls in our community, but we will make sure their spirits live on with us and will not be forgotten."

Alting said he will now work on a resolution to rename the State Road 25 bridge over Deer Creek in honor of Abby and Libby during the 2027 legislative session.

Alting encourages residents of Senate District 22 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Alting can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Alting or by phone at 800-382-9467.
