Alexander's resolution honoring Officer Gregg Winters passes Senate

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 27, 2026) — A resolution authored by State Sen. Scott Alexander (R-Muncie) to honor Officer Gregg Winters passed the Senate today.

Senate Concurrent Resolution 4 urges the Indiana Department of Transportation to rename the portion of I-69 North beginning at mile marker 233 the "Gregg Winters Memorial Mile" to honor Officer Gregg Winters, who worked for the Muncie Police Department in 1986 and was tragically killed in a traffic accident in 1991.

"Officer Winters served the Muncie community valiantly and paid the ultimate sacrifice while doing so," Alexander said. "This recognition would honor him and ensure his legacy and memory will continue to live on."

The resolution now moves to the House of Representatives for further consideration.

Alexander encourages residents of Senate District 26 to contact him with any questions or comments they may have. Alexander can be reached by filling out a "Contact Me" form online at www.IndianaSenateRepublicans.com/Alexander or by phone at 800-382-9467.
