A Paid Internship That Offers More Than Work

Friday, August 22, 2025

The Indiana Senate Republican Caucus is now accepting internship applications for the 2026 legislative session. This full-time paid opportunity gives college students and recent graduates more than just professional experience – interns will build lasting connections and get a chance to experience what it's like to work in Indiana's capital city.

Professional Experience
Interns who work with the Senate Republican caucus will do more than just observe. Each day, they will work directly with state senators and professional staff to address real issues impacting Hoosiers across the state. It is a great opportunity to build resumes, expand professional networks and gain meaningful experience in the workplace.

Benefits of the internship program include the following.
  • $900 biweekly stipend
  • Possible academic credit through their college or university
  • Scholarship opportunities through the Verizon Communications and Senator David Ford Scholarship Funds
  • Networking opportunities in a professional environment

Experience Outside of the Statehouse
Another benefit of the internship program is working in the middle of downtown Indianapolis. The Statehouse is within walking distance of many attractions, restaurants and landmarks. Some of the places interns can get out and explore the city include:

  • Monument Circle, a historic landmark at the center of downtown surrounded by different shops, businesses and restaurants;
  • The Indiana State Museum, Eiteljorg Museum and NCAA Hall of Champions, which showcase Indiana's history, art and sport heritage;
  • Gainbridge Fieldhouse and Lucas Oil Stadium, where interns can catch a game or attend other events like annual conventions or concerts; and
  • The Indianapolis Cultural Trail, a popular trail for walking or biking to local coffee shops, businesses and taking in the local arts.

Interning with the Indiana Senate offers participants more than just about gaining valuable work experience – it's a chance for young professionals to become more independent, meet new people and experience a community where entertainment is just steps away from the Statehouse.
