
During my time as your state senator, I have always worked to make sure the voices of Senate District 38 are heard at the Statehouse.
Responding to local concerns
Shortly after taking office, I learned about a massive pipeline that was being considered by the state to transport water from the Wabash River to Boone County. That's why I co-authored a law that ensures our state's water supply is managed properly and restricts the ability of big corporations to use too much of a community's water.
Our district also knows how important it is to ensure Hoosier kids receive a great education so they can be prepared for successful futures. That's why I have voted to increase teacher pay and provide a 13th check for retired educators.
To preserve Hoosier farmland, I sponsored a law passed in 2024 that prohibits the purchase of land within 10 miles of a military base or the purchase of any farmland by citizens and companies of foreign nations officially recognized as America's adversaries, some of which include Russia, China, Iran and North Korea. In 2026, I voted to expand this law to prohibit these businesses from purchasing any land in Indiana.
This year, I also authored a bill that would have ensured American workers, not illegal immigrants, work on taxpayer funded construction projects. Unfortunately, this legislation did not make it across the finish line, but I will continue to work on it so that it becomes law.
