
Throughout my time as your state senator, I have always worked to make sure your voice is heard at the Statehouse.
Not long after I was sworn in, our community learned about a massive pipeline that was being considered by the state to transport water from Tippecanoe County to Boone County.
The message from our community was clear – protect our water.
That's why I voted in recent years to support new laws to stop the unregulated removal of millions of gallons of water from the Wabash River region. After years of my work and advocacy, the Indiana General Assembly passed a law in 2025 that puts protections into place that limit large water transfers.
This year, I also worked on legislation that would have given local officials a voice on any carbon sequestration project that brings in carbon from outside the county. The bill passed the Senate, but died in the House of Representatives. While the bill did not make it to the governor's desk this year, I will continue to work with local leaders and my colleagues to find a solution that gives counties a voice on carbon sequestration projects.
