Indiana high school students and their families can now get an early start on financial planning for college. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is open earlier than ever before, giving families extra time to complete the application process and maximize their financial aid opportunities.

This year, the FAFSA form now includes updates designed to make the process easier and faster.

Through the new contributor invite process, students can now send a code to parents or other contributors, making it easier to complete their portion of the FAFSA form.

With the instant account verification update, new studentaid.gov accounts are confirmed immediately, instead of the previous one to seven-day waiting period.

Completing the FAFSA is one of the most important steps toward making college more affordable for Hoosier students. Families should be sure to file early, use the new tools and take advantage of the following resources for help.

In addition, colleges and universities across the state host free FAFSA filing events to help families with the application process. To see upcoming events near you, click here
