Statement from State Sen. Andy Zay
State Sen. Andy Zay (R-Huntington) made the following statement in response to Gov. Eric Holcomb's 2024 State of the State address:

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 9, 2024) – "After listening to the governor's final State of the State address, it is clear that Indiana is doing very well, but there is still more work to do.

"Several years ago, I championed a law that created the Next Level Connections Program to expand broadband access to underserved or unserved communities across the state. Today, I was pleased to hear a continued push to connect even more households and businesses through greater investments in broadband improvements.

"I am also pleased to hear the governor prioritize child care this year. This session, I am authoring Senate Bill 98, which would allow parents to claim their unborn child as a dependent on their state adjusted gross income exemptions. The state needs to support new parents early if we are going to create healthy Hoosier families for years to come.

"I look forward to advocating for this legislation and considering other policies in the months to come as the General Assembly works to create a better place for current and future Hoosiers to call home."
