State Sen. R. Michael Young (R-Indianapolis) made the following statement today in response to
the passing of Hendricks County Sheriff’s Deputy Fred Fislar:
STATEHOUSE (April 18, 2024) – "My heart became heavy when I heard of the tragic loss of Hendricks County Sherrif's Office Deputy Fred Fislar, who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Every day, our brave officers put their lives on the line to protect and serve our communities, often for people they've never met. Their unwavering dedication to ensuring our safety is a testament to their selflessness and courage.
“As we reflect on Deputy Fislar's service and sacrifice, we are reminded of the tremendous debt of gratitude we owe all law enforcement officers. Their willingness to confront danger head-on, and to stand between us and harm, embodies the true essence of heroism.
“In the face of this profound loss, let us come together to offer our deepest condolences to Deputy Fislar's family, friends and colleagues. May we also express our profound gratitude for the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers everywhere. Deputy Fislar’s bravery and commitment to our safety will never be forgotten, and we are forever thankful for his service."
