Zay: Local towns receive $80,000 in Federal Planning Grants

STATEHOUSE (Dec. 22, 2023) – The Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs announced two communities in Senate District 17 will collectively receive $80,000 in Planning Grants through the Community Development Block Grant Program, said State Sen. Andy Zay (R-Huntington).

The Planning Grant program helps communities plan for long-term community and economic development projects. This quarter, the funds being distributed address utilities, economic development, downtown revitalization and comprehensive planning efforts.

The town of Largo received $40,000 from the Economic Development Planning Grant, which will be used to find strategies that support and attract businesses while complementing technology and work enterprises.

The town of North Manchester received $40,000 from the Downtown Revitalization Planning Grant, which will be used to plan for long-term community development such as welcoming new businesses, increasing tourism and more.

"This program is a great way for communities to continue working on redevelopment, which creates more opportunities for community members, helps boost our local economies and makes Indiana's economy even stronger," Zay said. "I am thrilled our local towns received this funding and look forward to seeing the impact these grants will have."
