Zay: INDOT to offer increased funding for local infrastructure improvements

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 18, 2024) — The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) has raised the maximum award amount on the Community Crossings Matching Grant Program (CCMG) from $1 million to $1.5 million, said State Sen. Andy Zay (R-Huntington).

The CCMG, established by the Indiana General Assembly in 2016, aims to advance community infrastructure projects, strengthen local transportation networks, and improve Indiana’s roads and bridges.

"Indiana's productive economy and quality of life rely heavily on our roads and bridges, which is why we should continue to prioritize and encourage their upkeep," Zay said. "I am glad to see INDOT raise the cap for the CCMG awards. This change should help both small and large communities by giving them more available support in funding their improvement needs. It also helps to ensure hard-earned taxpayer dollars are being used to improve our state's infrastructure so that Indiana is an even better place to live, work and raise a family."

The increased cap is currently a pilot program for 2024 and contains two calls for project funding. INDOT will reassess the program at the end of the year to decide whether this increase is effective and sustainable.

Applications for the first call for projects are open now through Jan. 31 at 5 p.m.
