STATEHOUSE (Aug. 26, 2014) – State Sen. Ed Charbonneau (R-Valparaiso) urges the local officials of several Northwest Indiana counties to promptly apply for funding through the Hardest Hit Fund-Blight Elimination Program (BEP), as the application deadline is quickly approaching.
Pulaski, Starke, Benton and Newton counties are eligible for funding to help demolish abandoned and blighted properties that are beyond repair as part of Indiana’s Hardest Hit Fund allocation. The application deadline is Sept. 15.
“Blighted and abandoned homes create safety concerns and drive down surrounding property values,” Charbonneau said. “By eliminating these properties, our communities can create a strong foundation for redevelopment.”
Local officials with questions or interest in applying should visit http://www.877gethope.org/blight.
