Sen. Tomes Supports Proposal for Consumer Protections to Military Members

SEN. TOMES SUPPORTS PROPOSAL FOR CONSUMER PROTECTIONS TO MILITARY MEMBERS: State Sen. Jim Tomes (R-Wadesville, left) joins Attorney General Greg Zoeller (right) at the Evansville National Guard Armory on Aug. 22 during a press conference to announce a legislative proposal strengthening consumer protections for military service members. As proposed, the Indiana Service Member’s Civil Relief Act would provide state remedies for violations of the federal Service Member’s Civil Relief Act, which allows current serving National Guardsmen and Reservists to suspend or postpone certain financial obligations. “I will back this proposal in the upcoming legislative session to help establish greater financial stability for Hoosier military members and their families,” Tomes said. “State leaders owe it to the men and women in uniform to make sure they are receiving the support they deserve.”
