STATEHOUSE (August 8, 2014) – “Water resources are truly part of the backbone of our state’s economy. Indiana’s various water uses – municipal, industrial, energy, agricultural and recreational among them – are all critical to growth and sustainability. The research and recommendations provided in the Indiana Chamber of Commerce’s newly released report will be a valuable tool as the state looks to maintain its current economic advantage and prevent future water crises.
“I appreciate the hard work and dedication of Chamber President Kevin Brinegar, study author Dr. Jack Wittman, Chamber Vice President of Environmental and Energy Policy Vince Griffin and everyone involved in the development of this study.
“Implementing a statewide water plan will take time. But, now we have a framework for analyzing Indiana’s current usage of water resources and a clear outline of additional steps necessary to protect this valuable asset for all Hoosiers.
“I look forward to collaborating with legislative colleagues and other stakeholders on the work needed to develop a long-term water plan for Indiana.”
