STATEHOUSE (June 9, 2014) – State Sen. Ed Charbonneau (R-Valparaiso) received the Indiana Recycling Coalition’s (IRC) 2014 Legislative Leadership Award. This award is given for leadership in advocating significant recycling legislation.
“The recycling legislation passed during the 2014 session is the first step in an ongoing process,” Charbonneau said. “A healthy environment will attract new businesses to Indiana, and strengthen our economy. I am honored to be recognized by the Indiana Recycling Coalition, and I plan to continue advocating for responsible recycling policies that preserve our environment.”
Charbonneau, State Rep. David Wolkins (R-Winona Lake) and Dan Schmitt – environmental policy director for Gov. Mike Pence – were recognized by the IRC for their work on House Enrolled Act 1183, which implements new recycling data reporting requirements and a statewide 50 percent recycling goal. Charbonneau serves as the chairman of the Senate Committee on Environmental Affairs.
"The Indiana Recycling Coalition (IRC) is thrilled to recognize Senator Charbonneau with our Legislative Leadership Award for his dedication to recycling and his significant contribution to the passage of HEA 1183,” said Carey Hamilton, IRC's executive director. “This landmark recycling legislation sets the stage for significant job creation, energy savings and resource conservation for Indiana.”
