STATEHOUSE (May 27, 2014) — The Indiana Chamber of Commerce recently released its 2014 Legislative Vote Analysis, which ranks state lawmakers based on their votes for pro-jobs, pro-economy measures. State Sen. Jim Banks (R-Columbia City) was one of 10 legislators to receive a perfect score.
According to the Chamber, bills used in the report were selected based on their significant impact to the state’s economic climate and workforce. These included business personal property tax reform, a reduction in the corporate income tax rate and funding for Indiana’s major highway projects. Banks received special recognition in the report for his leadership on specific business issues of critical importance.
“As lawmakers, my colleagues and I are in a unique position to help struggling Hoosiers, and we take that responsibility seriously,” Banks said. “This year, the General Assembly advanced many new laws that will expand economic opportunities and help more workers secure long-term employment. I’m happy to have been a part of these initiatives.”
Earlier this year, Banks was one of 15 legislators who received a perfect score from the Indiana Manufacturers Association. This ranking was based on his support of bills that advanced the state’s growing manufacturing sector. Additionally, Banks received a 100 percent attendance record for the 2014 legislative session.
