[7] Hershman Welcomes Students Serving as Pages to Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (Feb. 10, 2012) – State Sen. Brandt Hershman (R-Buck Creek) welcomed the following student pages to the Statehouse in January:

Jackson Blanchard from Indiana Connections Academy
Grace Hampton from Delphi Community High School
Christopher Hardy from Roosevelt Middle School
Josi Miller and Laura Zichella from International School of Indiana

As pages, students tour the Statehouse, meet their senators, observe the legislative process from the Senate floor and assist staff during session.

“It’s exciting to see so many students getting involved, and my hope is that more Hoosiers have the opportunity to visit their state Capitol,” Hershman said. “The experience can help young citizens understand what happens in state government and how it affects their lives.”

Students in grades six through 12 are eligible to participate in the page program on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays of the legislative session, which ends March 14 this year.
