Area students serve as pages for Sen. Ed Charbonneau

STATEHOUSE (Jan. 10, 2011) - State Sen. Ed Charbonneau (R-Valparaiso) recently welcomed the following area students as legislative pages:

  • Jacob Welch, son of David Welch and a student at Willow Creek; and
  • Margaret Nagai, daughter of Lee Nagai and a student at Thomas Jefferson Middle School.

During the legislative session, pages spend one day at the Statehouse working with their senator and Senate staff.

Student pages start the day in orientation before touring the historic Statehouse, Charbonneau said. Throughout the day, pages spend time in the Senate Chamber observing the introduction of bills, listening to debates and delivering important messages among senators and staff.

Charbonneau said students in grades six through 12 are invited to serve as pages. Those interested in additional information can call 1-800-382-9467 or visit
