Statement from State Sen. Jean Leising

State Sen. Jean Leising (R-Oldenburg) made the following statement today in response to the announcement that the Link 101 Corridor Project would be canceled:

STATEHOUSE (May 2, 2024) – "I was pleased to hear the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) listened to my concerns as well as those of community members and canceled the Link 101 Corridor Project.

"The project was anticipated to cost substantially more and be used significantly less than initially planned. Additionally, the potential threats to farmland and property of local residents made the project difficult to justify.

"INDOT has said they will prioritize the preservation of local roads and that funding for the project will be redistributed statewide. I hope they will reconsider and utilize the funds to improve existing infrastructure in Southeastern Indiana."
