IUPUI student gained experience at Indiana Statehouse

STATEHOUSE (March 16, 2020) – Wily Ariste served as an intern for the Indiana Senate Majority Caucus during the 2020 legislative session, said State Sen. Andy Zay (R-Huntington).

Ariste, a resident of Indianapolis, is the son of Patricia Ariste. He graduated from Pike High School and is a junior at Indiana University - Purdue University Indianapolis studying political science.

“Wily worked hard this session, making time and going out of his way to help around the Statehouse,” Zay said.

As a legislative intern, Ariste tracked and analyzed bill data, provided constituent services, staffed Senate committee hearings and meetings, and conducted legislative policy research.

“I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent at the Indiana State Senate during the 121st Indiana General Assembly,” Ariste said. “Now, I have very valuable experience under my belt to pursue my professional career post-graduation.”

Senate Majority interns worked through the duration of the legislative session, which ended March 11.
